Coleslaw is a staple food for outdoor barbeques, picnics and gatherings. Most pre-made, bottled dressings contain a high sugar content and preservatives, which is totally unnecessary and unhealthy.
My recipe calls for mayonnaise. When I’m pressed for time I use Hellmann’s low fat mayo and when I have some extra time, I make my own mayo from scratch. Grab the recipe here.
Try this is a simple, delicious sugar-free recipe for coleslaw, I guarantee you’ll never by the crap bottled dressing again.
2/3 cup mayonnaise (I use low fat Hellmann’s Mayo)
2-3 packets of Truvia dissolved in 1/2 cup water
2 tablespoons dried onion
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon celery seeds
salt and pepper to taste
14 oz bag coleslaw mix
- In a medium bowl, add mayonnaise, sweetened water, dried onion, vinegar, celery seeds, black pepper, and salt. Stir together.
- In a large bowl, add cabbage mix, and pour mayonnaise mixture over top the cabbage mix. Stir well.
- Chill for 1 hour.
